I was inspired by the textures of Milbank, especially the textures from remaining parts of Milbank Prison. I want users of the bench to feel the history of the Prison through their fingertips. Every piece of concrete brick was casted from textures from remaining parts of Milbank Prison. . As the prison was progressively demolished its site was redeveloped in 1890. The principal new buildings erected were the Tate Britain, which opened in 1897.
